April 9, 2018
On June 2, AUOMA received notice that the Government of Alberta released two Orders in Council:
- The Designated Material Recycling and Management Amendment Regulation (188/2018)
- The Lubricating Oil Material Designation Regulation (190/2018)
These amendments confirm that effective October 1, 2018, AUOMA will be dissolved as a management board and Alberta Recycling will assume responsibility for administering Alberta’s used oil materials recycling program. There were no other regulatory changes to the program.
For now, it is still business as usual. We’re planning for consistency in service delivery leading up to and after the program transfer, and we’re working with Alberta Recycling to ensure there is minimal impact on EHC Remitters, Registered Collectors, Registered Processors, and people who use the program to recycle their used oil materials.
Between now and October, we commit to keeping our stakeholders informed of any changes.
