June 1, 2018
Bringing its 20th anniversary year to an end, AUOMA has released its 2017 Annual Report.
The timing of the release coincides with Alberta’s forthcoming Environment Week (i.e., June 3 – 7, 2018). Environment Week is an opportunity to both thank Albertans for their continued support of the recycling program and encourage them to continue to help increase collection rates and keep used oil materials out of our landfills and waterways.
In 2017, Albertans recycled:
- 90 million litres of used lubricating oil
- 7.6 million oil filters
- 2.6 million kilograms of used oil containers
These materials were either dropped off at one of Alberta’s nearly 230 used oil material collection sites or, for large volumes, picked up by a registered collector. From here they are delivered to and recycled by one of Alberta’s government-approved processors.
